Sometimes business trips by auto can bring pleasant surprises.  It was a challenging tech day for me.  I was called to work onsite on a critical software system for an important client in Grand Junction.  Got done on a late February afternoon.  While heading east on I-70, after a light snow earlier that day, I happened upon some very interesting sunlight conditions being cast upon the snow peaked mountain outcroppings.  It seemed to make the snow glow against the blue-green sky.    <\/p>\n

\"P1010807\"<\/a> Being unsure of the road conditions going over the pass, not wanting to take a chance of getting stuck waiting for weather to clear, I hung my digital camera out the window and starting snapping some pictures.<\/p>\n

\"P1010804\"<\/a> This shot was taken just east of town when the sun was beginning to sink low in the horizon.  Their is an abundance of interesting terrain from Grand Junction to Denver and north to the Wyoming border, and all the mountain range within.  Living along the Front Range, you find it easy and convenient to get away.  In under an hour,  in any of several directions, you can be out in the midst of nature and scenery to die for.  From everything I have read and heard, southwestern Colorado is a must see.  That is my next destination in my ramblings. \"P1010817\"<\/a> <\/p>\n

Proceeding up the eastern slope towards Glenwood Springs, a famous little spot that enjoys year-round tourism, the sun was giving way to darkness.  There was enough light bouncing off the snow to make it appear like a moonlit night.  This shot is somewhere east of Glenwood Springs<\/p>\n

Making your way up the pass, you drive through a few tunnels.  They remind me of the tunnels you pass through traveling across the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-76.)  This one was at least two miles in length.  The snow started falling lightly and darkness pretty much set in.  Time to put the camera away and concentrate on driving in the weather.  Anytime you trek outside of your home town, when living in Colorado, I recommend you grab your camera.  You never know what picture perfect surprises are right around the corner.  Different seasons and different parts of the day always give way to a new photographic interpretation of the same beauty you have already passed by.  Now?go drive somewhere! <\/p>\n
